Increases in National Insurance Benefits

The National Insurance Board of Trinidad and Tobago (NIBTT) pays benefits to persons who register and pay contributions to the National Insurance System. 

2013

Effective March 4, 2013, and continuing in 2014 the Maternity Grant, Special maternity Grant, Retirement Grant, Funeral Grant and minimum Survivor's Pensions basic rates were increased by 50%.  All other benefits were increased by approximately 25%.

2014

Increases of Approximately 20%

 

Effective March 3, 2014.  Sickness and Maternity Allowance, Invalidity Benefit, Employment Injury Death Benefit and  Survivor's Basic Benefit  rates  have been increased by approximately 20%.  As we continue to ensure that the benefits provided under the National Insurance System remain relevant.

Employers, you are reminded that contribution rates for National Insurance were increased effective March 3rd, 2014.To comply with the law you must use the correct rates when you deduct and remit National Insurance contributions for your employees from March 2014.
